Been building a 4.6 stroker for some time now and i was working on a 7120 head that i have been port/polishing. somewhat iffy on the port job and i'll still have to buy new springs, bridges, valves, basically everything.
My question is, has anyone put an Alabama Cylinder Head on a stroker with success? Is it worth it? Would i still need to port it out etc...Any opinions are appreciated.

Whats your definition of success? It will bolt on with out issue, but I would run one from ACH or a 2003+. According to 1bolt and others it works best with the newer intake and can be opened up quite a bit. I don't if you would gain any performance as it is in stock form though.

well i do have a 99+ intake manifold. The block is 0.020 over and I would clean up the ports and open the intake but leave the bowls alone. i am a rock crawler not a racer an was looking at pro's and con's to the alabama head.

I gave you my opinion. Most people don't use a 0331 head because a) the cracking issue, b) the generally perceived loss of performance and c) not many 00+ Jeeps on here. Search 1bolt's post. He did quite a bit of research on the performance of the 0331 head. I don't think it wouldn't hurt using it, and it would be cheaper and simpler to use a 0331 head if your engine originally came with one.

I run one on my 01 TJ. The only reason I did was because I didn't want to build my engine and have the 0331 crack and have to pull it apart again. It's just a 0331 head that's been strengthened in the areas that crack. It isn't going to do anything for performance if you already have a 0331 unless you p&p it. I did mine. Here's some pics http://www.jeepstrokers.com/forum/viewt ... =polishing so far everything is fine, 8,000 miles.
