first off im new to this site. i got a 80 cj-7 258(on last leg),offenhauser intake with a holley four barrel, hedman header tf999 with d300. im doing a frame up restore sort of lol. i want more power so going the stroker way i got a 96 xj motor gave to me the body was gone and the tranny went out so good for me

ok nice intro
what do i need for a basic stroker or do i have all the parts needed
will the trans hold up and can i use my intake
what is the baseline hp if there is on

You have all the basic parts for the stroker. Rods (both 4.2L and 4.0L rods depending on which pistons you go with), the 258 crank, the 4.0L engine block, and 4.0L head. You will need new gaskets, probably a new cam and lifters, new pistons, and the crank checked and/or turned. Maybe a valve job, etc. Basically everythign checked over and made new.

I don't know crap about CJs nor your transmission so i can't tell you if the engine brackets will work or if the transmission will explode. I also don't know if the intake and exhaust manifold will bolt up to the head. I'm more experienced with 91+ 4.0L aspects.
