Newbie questions on 'poor mans stroker'

I have done a lot of searching over the last few days on this forum, among others, but I still have a few questions I cant seem to find answers for. I have a stock 98 XJ that I want to put a 'poor man's stroker' into. The Jeep is my DD so I plan on buying a comlpete engine from a another 96-98 and rebuilding that in my spare time. I have never rebuilt a total engine before but I am fairly mechanically inclined and feel I can pull this off. Anyways onto the questions...
-Will the 'poor man's stroker' recipe from Dinos webpage actually run on 87 octane in my Jeep with the only other modifications being a '00+ intake and new header/exhaust?
-Since I have a 98 with the higher flowing of the factory fuel systems, I dont need to worry about upgrading this department at all without fear of running lean?
-Are the 677cp's still available and where are you guys getting them?
-Do most of you start out with any kind of basic engine rebuild kit for the bearings/seals/gaskets/etc.?
-This stroker kit from RPM Machine looks to basically be the poor mans stroker kit. Is this kit any good or does anyone have experience with them? Does this kit include any of the bearings/seals/gaskets/etc.? Also, does this crank have the correct snout for the serpentine belt on my year? How is the low CR from this kit figured (i.e. stock block, head milling etc.?) It should work with regular fuel...right?
I am very worried about pinging and running too lean with this motor so I want as low of a CR as possible to avoid it. I just want this to be as simple to put together as possible because I dont really like/trust myself with all the math work and scavenging parts from all over the place. Thank you all in advance for any help you can give me!
