Jeep Strokers

This is my first post. I have been asking allot of questions through PM and e-mails. I have been reading about allot of projects non-stop for about three weeks. I must say that it is the most informative site on stroker building! I need help in determining how much milling would I need for my block, and the dish size for my pistons. I am from Puerto Rico (Sea Level to approx 3,000 ft.), Highest octane fuel is 93. I am looking for a quench that would run good (without ping) with either a .44 or .51 head gasket. The .44 is getting hard to find. I am running a 5" lift on 33's, with 4:56 gears (Locked) with an AX-15 tranny. Mostly an off road rig, for weekend use, with some street driving. I do not mind running on 93 fuel.
Also, if I port and polish my head, will that change my combustion chamber from the factory 58cc? If yes, to how much? (estimated)

My machine work is scheduled to begin mid March. Any other suggestions (parts) for my build will be greatly appreciated. I am not too familiar with the mechanic terminology, so keep it simple. It would be awsome, if someone sent a copy of their suggestions on the Compression Ratio Calculator. Like I said before, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Need more info on those pistons so we can run #s(I don't recognize the part number/brand). I would never run a t-stat lower than 180* otherwise you'll be open loop a lot longer(and waste gas). Port and polishing doesn't necessarily mean opening up the combustion chamber to increase the CCs.

Consider the stock cylinder chamber 57cc. I polished mine and ended up with 57.3cc. Polish will remove a negligible amount of material unless you actually try to enlarge the chamber.

The pistons are from Enginetech. According to oletsot they get their pistons from silvolite or federal (speed pro/sealed power). They are dished to 14.1cc and the max dishing is 20cc.
...and yes, I will be sending those 160* thermostats and exchanging them for 180*

By putting 57cc as combustion chamber volume, .030 overbore, dishing the pistons to 20cc, with a deck clearance of .0015, 5.875 rod length, and Comp 68-232-4, I would end up with the following:

with a .044mm head gasket : 9.85 SCR & 8.47 DCR with a quench of .0455

With a .051mm head gasket : 9.71 SCR & 8.34 DCR with a quench of .0525

According to Oletshot 20cc is the max dish for the pistons I have already purchased, I already have the .044 head gasket, but I am a little concerned about the 9.85 SCR and and the 8.47 DCR the quench is right on (I think).

Need feedback on whether or not I will be running into ping issues. Like I said, Don't mind running 93 octane fuel, But if I could lower it some with some machine work I would. Just need to know recommendations, as to how.

Hey Silver, nice to hear from you again. Have you been able to work on your XJ any??

I had to use up some credit I had with Hesco Performance, and ended up purchasing their renix TB upgrade. I have not read any reviews on it so... I will let everyone know how it turns out. I figured, It must be simpler then swapping a newer intake and dealing with the sensors and stuff. I also purchased the spacer and adjustable fuel pressure regulator. I should be starting to tear down my XJ's engine next week sometime, and getting the block and head over to the machine shop. Still in doubt as to how much to deck the block, I am leaning towards taking .020 off. Any feedback on this? Also, I have gotten way over my budget for this build, but wondering about the roller rockers. I was hoping I could re-use my old rocker arms, but have read that the roller rockers are highly recommeded. Desperately Need Feedback!!!!!!

When I was building mine, I was told not to reuse the rocker arms as they have established wear patterns with the original pushrods and original lifts. Federal Mogul makes good OE replacement stamped rockers--R905 rocker assemblies(I paid $12.44x12=~$150). If you're going the RR route, I recommend the Yella Terras($420). Go ahead and take that .020" off.
