IAT Relocation

Want to move my IAT from it`s current position. Now it in the intake manifold itself. So it is seeing a relatively high temperature.

IIRC it is the coolant sensor that changes loops as the engine warms, right ?

A picture of my intake.

Picked up a stainless bung with the 1/8 NPT. Thinking that mounting the IAT close to the AC will work best. Comments or thoughts ?

For those that have stand alone tuners. What impact has the IAT had on timing or mixture ?
Any thoughts on what I should expect with this relocation ?

THANKS

I would still keep it in the intake tract, possibly as close tot he filter as possible.

I have mine relocated in my homebrew FIPK heatshield so it sees air that's as close to ambient temp. as possible. Theoretically it should slightly advance the ignition timing and richen the A/F mixture for better performance but I don't have any measurements to substantiate it.

That is obviously a YJ engine bay, and thus ODB1.

Leave the IAC right where it is.

Go to the local junkyard and grab an XJ 4.0L computer from 91-96, from a vehicle with an automatic.
It's a bolt in.

It will give you the timing advance you are looking for, and it's good for about 15 ponies over stock.
Jeep added timing to that computer to make up for the parasitic AW4 power losses.

96 XJ is OBDII

That would work for me, I'd buy a vendor star or whatever. They are brand new cranks after all....

Does this only apply to manual YJs only or would there be a gain with an automatic YJ as well?
