I am looking for a timing cover for my '93 4.0 ( well 4.7) HO... it seems i am coming with 3 different numbers... well manual shows 92 or 93 different numbers, quadratec shows 93-99, ebay selleres all over the board...
i understand that "earlier" had the "button" for the cam, how come '99 is listed in Quadratech?... or is it really up to 92?
I am confused...
I need a better harmonic balancer puller and go to junk yard...last time i saw like 8 XJs

help...
thanks

well after a long talk/read I think I narrowed it down. the cover part number ending on 2222 is the one i am after that would work. However the mopar parts stating it is for 2.5l, along with all the part look ups. I am looking to get one from dude on ebay.
pin kit is $8, the thrust washer.... well 10 days away...$3 258 would have the same washer, but i can't find where i tossed it when i stripped the donor...

i think i got it...

the 4.0L that I used from my 1999 Cherokee had a timing cover with the proper little "button" already cast into it.

I ordered the camshaft bolt/spring/dowel from hesco...

The dowel was rather rough when I got it... just put it in an electric drill and touched it on some emery paper (220 then 1000 grit) and it had a nice shiny face to run against the aluminum cover....

This isn't how its all supposed to work?

got bolt, spring and dowel from dealer ( under $8 after tax). dowel is fine finish no borrows, i left it in the sealed bag. I believe you are correct the boss/button/whatever you would call it is part of the cover. I just was getting pannicky :)
