The first stroker?

Post by Plechtan »

Hey, anybody know who built the first stroker? What year? Was it a company like Hesoc or was it a backyard project? I heard that Chrysler built some in the late 1980s as a test.

My father and I built our first stroker in 1989 after totally destroying a .060 over 258. We were sitting on the top in points for the year and just needed something to run. We dummyed (sp) it up, said it looked good and ran the snot out of it for the last three races.

Well John i think you were probably first in 1989, not many people tearing down their 2 or 3 year old engines and making strokers out of them. I think LimeyJeeper (anybody know real name?) gets the credit because he posted his information on the internet. As i recall not too many people had access to the internet in 1989. It really was not until the mid 90's that things started to get going with AOL and Compuserv. and fthen finally the WWW.

i posted off the top of my head. correction:
Robert Bryce built the world's first budget Jeep I-6 stroker engine, reusing as many stock components as possible in his assembly to keep cost to a minimum. The key to success was to keep it simple. Click on the image to the right to find out more.

I still have that motor in the garage. Although I don't really see it staying in one piece much longer. To quote TT, "I'll run it until the internals become EXTERNALS!" It may become the test bed for some "experimentation" shall we say.

The post does not really say what year it was.

Didnt hesco build and supercharged stroker in a yellow mj? Cant remember what year, but it was when the MJs were still available new
Now I can be like all those other awesome people with more than one Jeep in their sig, but now I have to say one of them is sold:(
97 XJ 4.6
90 MJ 4.0 - sold

I want to have as many Jeeps as children. DD, offroader, drag MJ and another one. 4=4
