I am starting the assembling processs on my 4.7l stroker with new cam bearings installed. I installed the crankshaft, pistons and then when I get to the cam and lifter install, the cam gets stuck on the last journal. Just was curious if anyone has ran into this issue and maybe has any tips or tricks to help out. Your comments will be appreciated

The cam bearing sizes become smaller as you go from front to back so maybe you got a couple of them installed the wrong way round.

Sometimes when a machine shop installs cam bearings, they can "peel" a little off the back of the bearings when they install them. This makes the bearings out of round. When I did my 401 years ago, it was so bad they had to replace them. The machine shop wanted my cam when they installed the bearings in my stroker, to make sure the cam would fit.

Also if the guy that installed them is a lazy ass he'll install one or both end bearings from the outside, there is NO way to keep them in line that way and they often will be cocked in the bore, they should be installed from the inside using the centering cone on the opposite end of the tool.

Mine were installed in the wrong order and my cam did the same thing. The block work was done by Golen Machine and even tho they put out like 100 a year according to Chad they still put them in wrong
