To header or not to header....

Hey guys,

I've been slowly moving toward getting my stroker project buttoned up but I have a question about exhaust. I've been reading lately that most of the header manufacture's don't really do much development for low end power, they tend to just go for the most horsepower. So is it a good idea to put a header on a stroker that is build basically as a low end motor? I keep having flashbacks to the early 80's when I built a 350 chev and put a set of headers on in and it actually felt like it lost low end compared to the stock ram's horns manifolds. So am I nuts? :wiggle:

I have nothing to compare it to, but I used a 99 up Borla split header (3 in to 1) then ran 2-2" pipes into a 3" pipe back to a 50 series flowmaster and 2.5" out the back. It sounds really good and has plenty low end torque. I also wraped the headers with heat wrap to help keep the intake and engine compartment cool.

I have a Borla header and I didn't lose any torque at lower rpm. If anything I probably gained a little.

I'm glad to hear that you like your Borla. I've got a brand new one sitting in the bag that I was planning on putting on when the 4.6 goes in.

Most likely I'm fretting over nothing....
