Why not? Marcus in Australia did something similar, just with AW4 pans (he wanted a deep sump for the slushbox, and no-one makes one. So, he made one.) Just cut the top off of one cover - at the point where the wall goes vertical - and deburr. Cut the flange off of the other one and deburr. Weld together.Exos wrote:Somebody gave me another idea : take one steel cover, cut it in half, and weld a 5/8" steel band in between the 2 pieces... I think that would work well too, but I don't know where I'll find the steel band yet. What is the thickness of a steel valve cover?
edit : well, after some taught.. it will be much easier working with 2 valve covers !
@SilverXJ - thanks much for the confirmation on swapping the valve covers. I figured it would be possible, but I hadn't gotten a confirmation from anyone, so I was leery about saying outright "It can be done."
