n00b Intro

Hey guys, I'm in the beginning stages of considering a stroker and wanted to get an education before I go any further.

First off, my name is Tim, I'm from Columbus, Oh, and I've got a 97 XJ SE (pretty much stock) as a DD and future trail rig and a 98 XJ Sport as a parts donor. Both vehicles run well with the odo on the 97 showing 250K. The 97 was a corporate lease for the first 8 years of it's life. The bad is a ton of miles, the good was decent service (most wear items are mopar replacements). The 98 was well maintained by a local shop before some chick side swiped a guard rail and bent the body and front axle (a steal for $500), with 170K on the clock.

I've been considering yanking the motor in my 97 in the next year or two to rebuild, but with parting the 98, I figure I can build the motor while I'm still driving the 97 and just swap when I'm done. For now I'm planning the 97 to be a light trail rig/DD. I'm considering 2 to 3 inches of lift, 31 or 33's, and some other mild mods. I'd like to shoot for 4.5 liters when I'm done. I'm willing to trade some performance for reliability. Down the road I may retire it from DD duty and build something more tail orientated.

Anyways, now that I've wasted enough time. I'm going to start digging through existing threads and hopefully get myself an education.
