Thrust pin and spring

Could anyone tell me if the crankshaft cover is what the thrust pin and spring ride on? I guess I'm have trouble understanding the purpose of this. Thanks Dale

Yes, it rides on the timing chain cover. Its supposed to keep the cam from walking forward.

Thanks, just was consernd since I was unable to use the thrust plate with the new cam ,timing chain, etc!

Consider getting a new spring /pin for this conversion, some find a older weak spring can cause serious problems.

what about the "rub plate" inside stock timing cover-do i need that with the brand new cloyes double roller chain?

DWG and I are both running this mod with no problems. I am sure you could do something similar and it would work also. Oh and thanks DWG it works great!

I was thinking of something similar using a small hardened bolt and nylon bolt. Where can I locate the aircraft screw?
