Roller Lifters

Isn't there anyone out there that makes a roller lifters for the 4.0?
With all the stuff that I have read on here about lifter/cam wipes, I would think someone would have figured out a way to make a roller lifter work on one of these. Whether it be from a Jeep, SBC or SBF.
Just a thought.

505 performance makes a roller cam and lifters. There is somebody on here running one with a turbo.

Factory lifters are out there, in a manner of speaking. The 4.0 uses a .903 body, and the 3.8 V6 a .904. AMC V8 lifters have been modded to fit, too. It's not a matter of availability for what I see. 505 uses Chevy rollers, IIRC. The problem with installing lifters in the 4.0 is that the head is not made to allow an easy drop in - you have to take it off. Oh well.
From what I see the roller cam problem we face is the lack of cheaper cast nodular iron blanks. It takes a minimum number to bother getting a casting operation to make them, and that threshold figure seems pretty high, whatever it is. I sent Comp Cams and email last week asking what the specific economic order quantity was, but no reply yet. Don't really expect one.
That leaves billet cams at high prices the only current source, which forces changing the distributor gear to bronze for compatibility. It makes the cost per horsepower pretty high for the casual rebuilder. A bottle of Greased Lightning per oil change might be cheaper - just stick with flat tappet if you can't run with the big dogs (money wise.)
If grinders had a ready supply of cast cam blanks, I believe the supply question would center on what grind is best for what size stroker build using which intake/head/header combo - just like normal.
When we spend as much in the "high performance" market as the V8 guys, maybe the industry will bother. Until then, it's going to be a niche entrepreneur trying to survive.
