Everyone on this board always talks about tuning after the build is done....
How is this accomplished on a non ODB RENIX? About the only thing i know if is a MAP adjuster. Are there other things you guys are using on RENIX?

I'm curious myself. Like Muad said, i know there is map adjuster and adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

i have built 2 for renix, one hi po, my previous trail jeep and the other was a basic stroker on my 87'. deck the block ten, 24 lbs inj and put it together. from my experiance renix did'nt respond well to any added tuning.
the only modification was on the trail jeep, it did'nt like to have the IAC plugged in, chopping the throttle would cause it to die. ran perfect after that.

The Renix manual is ib the Donators section, I think after you review it some questions will be answered. You could move the crank sensor to give you more timing advance, the Knock sensor will pull it back if you give it too much. I have heard that the Renix motors will get better mileage with premium fuel because the will advance the timing more. The Fuel is also closed loop, so bigger injectors and let the computer trim things.
Fuel and timing, that's all you got.

Please help! I need to know if i can tune this renix or do i have to switch the computer out with new! 87 comanche and put 4.6 stroker in now wont idle unless i put spark tester in between coil and cap then runs fine at idle wont drive tho take tester out and long as you are in the gas it runs fine does not like to cruse tho around 2000 2300 rpm. If i can tune it what do i need

I'd start with a new coil wire.
The only thing I could figure after that is maybe your to far advanced somehow and the tester is slowing down your spark and also sapping valuable voltage. Maybe your one tooth off on the distributer.

We moved to southern Nevada just outside Las Vegas and now I have to smog my Renix stroker. I have a friend who owns a shop and we put it on his 4 gas analyzer. Come to find out it is running pretty rich with Ford Motorsport 24 lb injectors. I was thinking of moving to some 21 lb injectors unless anyone has a nugget of wisdom???

In answer to the OP's question I suppose you could use a high altitude crank position sensor. They advance the timing. Also, I converted to 91ish fuel lines/rail and got an adjustable fuel pressure switch. There were two computers as well. Good luck.

Part throttle rich, right? Do Renix motors have a narrow band 02?

I caught that after I posted it but couldn't figure out how to edit ... dum de dum.
I just received a set each of 21 and 22 lb injectors. In the next week or two I'm gonna try this smog thing again. Being as I have no EGR (someone stole it) and it is my emissions at idle that I am failing, I might be in trouble. We have a smog exempt registration as long as the vehicle is driven less than 6k miles a year, but still, I would like to get this thing dialed in if possible.

For OP, I'm not sure if you can adjust anything inside of the ECU itself, there is an RX port so I'm sure you can send it commands but who knows what. Found lots of neat stuff on the TX pin though.
As for N.FRIED@120brent, What Injectors did you use as this is crucial for a Renix Stroker. The regularly recommended 24lbs/hr Mustang Injectors are WAY TOO MUCH fuel for the older systems. I actually did a whole video about it. Long story short, grab some Bosch 19.4lb/hr Saab 900 V6 Injectors # 0-280-155-712 and you'll be fine.
