Modifying my 4.0L to 4.5L Stroker i.e. Pistons

Post by jeepxjgirl »

Sorry, I am new and now I think I should have posted this in the Basic Forum. IDK :brickwall:

I have a 1996 4.0 and I am building a simplified 4.5L Stroker. I will use the Jeep 4.2L 3.895" stroke crankshaft and the 4.2L 5.875" rods.
This is what I have now:
8.5Wires/AccelCap&Rotor/RemoteOilFilter&Cooler/3CoreH.D.Radiator/FlowKoolHiFlowWaterPump/TurboCityHiFlowThermostatHousing&Thermostat/9"K&N Cone/62mmThrottleBody/04IntakeManifold/BoschFuelPump/WrappedExhaustHeader/2.5"CatBackExhaust

I want to use Venom High Performance Fuel Injectors 24lb. for Ford V8. Python high performance injectors have a 10 percent higher flow rate than stock injectors, so they boost horsepower without creating an overly rich fuel mixture. As a result, they are supposed to enhance overall performance while maintaining an optimal idle condition.

Since I have a '96 4.0L and not '93 or earlier HO, can I use the WH825CP Pistons instead of the W677CP Pistons? For a '96 4.5L Stroker what would you suggest for Pistons?

SEALED POWER Part # WH825CP {Cast Piston - Individual Size: Standard} 1996 JEEP CHEROKEE COUNTRY 4.0L 242cid L6 MFI (S)
Cast Piston - Individual; Hypereutectic; 2 - 5/64 Groove, 1 - 3/16 Groove, 1.592 CD, Recessed Head .116 deep; DurOshield® skirt coated piston, 0.931" Pin Dia.
with
SEALED POWER Part # WE234K {Premium Single Cylinder Set Size: Standard}
Premium Single Cylinder Set; Use w/WH825CP piston; 2-5/64, 1-3/16

Or

SEALED POWER Part # W677CP {Cast Piston - Individual Size: Standard} 1993 JEEP CHEROKEE 4.0L 242cid L6 MFI (S)
Cast Piston - Individual; Cast; 2 - 5/64 Groove, 1 - 3/16 Groove, 1.585 CD, Recessed Head .116 deep; DurOshield® skirt coated piston, 0.931" Pin Dia.
with
SEALED POWER Part # WE234K {Premium Single Cylinder Set Size: Standard}
Premium Single Cylinder Set; 2-5/64, 1-3/16

Any and all helpful comments and suggestions are appreciated. :cheers:
Thanks

I used the 825cp30s in a 94 block in my 96. If the bores look good and you want a stock size piston, go for it--might need a light hone. I had the block decked .030" and the head .006" and used the felpro 9076pti .051" hg. If I built it now with the same parts, I would zero deck the bock(decked .040-042"), have the 825s dished to 20cc, and use a thinner head gasket(the mopar [email protected]").
