Jeep Strokers

I am in the planning stages of building a stroker out of a 1993 4.0 liter to go into my 1986 wagoneer. If anyone could lend any helpful advice it would be greatly appriciated. About the only thing I know so far is I need a 4.2 Crank and Rods. Thanks for the help guys.

For the most part you have the right idea... but you have to think about what rods you want to use (or what pistons). You have two options .. a short rod stroker, or long rod. Unfortunately however, the long rod stroker is the more expensive option. It requires forged custom pistons, or forged KB944's which are both expensive. If your on a budget, then the short rod stroker is what your probably going to want to build.

The short rod stroker uses the rods from a 4.2L. Then you can start thinking about how much power you want to make, what pistons and what size etc. Use the calculator to find out your compression ratio and put it all together.

The FAQ's will help you greatly after you figure out what stroker you want to build.

Thanks for the help man. I wound up with two complete running 4.0 blocks, so probably budget build one to start with and get familiar with it all and the go hog wild with the other.

Sounds like a good plan. Build the first one as a mild budget stroker that'll be reliable as a daily driver, and then go wild with the second one. Check out the stroker recipes and my stroker build-up from the links in my sig.
I just dyno'd my stroker again last Saturday with the '01 XJ intake (numbers in sig.). Keep in mind that mine is just a +0.020" overbored version of the "poor man's" stroker recipe with Yella Terra roller rockers so it's as simple as it gets.
