Does anyone use the little hand crank piston ring file tools, are they worth buying one? If you don't use one, what do you use?

Try one one of these, I can't wear it out. http://www.fast351.com/cartech/enginerebuild/index3.htm
I like them better than the powered ones.

Thanks John, this is exactly the tool I was inquiring about, your recommendation is a big help. :)
Any other options out there? Just curious, for now my plan is to get one of these tools.

Oleshot, I have also used this model , it is the one our local race shop carries and there are a few of these around here, they are good. http://www.behrents.com/mm5/merchant.mv ... e=ROC66785
The electric powered battery pack model didn't do much for me as the sticker shock was way out of line for the use I put one too. Worked well though.

John, thanks again. Pistons are installed, of course I ran into another problem. One of the rod bearing boxes only had 1/2 of the bearing. Oh well, I guess that's how it goes sometimes.

As it turns out I didn't need it. Probably since this is a true shadtree rebuild (just a honing and a set of rings and bearings), all rings were at the larger end of the ring gap tolerence (a couple were a couple thousands over tolerence).
Maybe I'll need a muffler on the valve cover also.
