well i picked up the first of 2 free 258 blocks. reason i'm getting 2 is i didn't expect either of them to be usable much to my suprise the first is in cherry condition.
block casting number 3235077
after inspection the cylinders are clean and smooth, the crank is in perfect condition, and the rods are the same
mmm beefy 12 weight
i love freebies especially when they're usable.......anybody wanna buy a block and head?
it's a start

Re: it's a start
well now i have a 2nd crank and rods in the 4 weight flavor that is also in excellent shape. couple of the mains show a little wear but nothing a little machining can't cure. the rod journals look almost new. so now should i build on the 12 weight crank and sell the 4 weight or build on the 4 and sell the 12. right now i'm leaning towards keeping the 12.
so what's the going price on a crank and a set of rods these days?
