WJ exhaust manifolds with 7120 head

Post by StroktWJ »

I am hours away from dropping the 4.6L stroker into the WJ, I am running the 7120 head and I know the exhaust ports on the 7120 head are much larger. So large in fact that in order to run the WJ exhaust manifolds I need to use the 99+ steel exhaust gasket which blocks most of the port. I know for optimal performance this is not good, but I am just trying to get it running and drivable this weekend.

Why not use a XJ exhaust manifold and have an exhaust shop (or yourself if you can weld) make it work? It shouldnt cost that much to tie it into the existing system...
If it feels right, then STROKE it!
You're lucky that hundred shot of CAPS LOCK didn't blow the welds on the forum!!

ultimately that is what will happen in the end. I will just buy a stainless header and run a single exhaust but at this point I was just trying to fire it up this weekend and break her in.

Why do you need to use the 99+ steel exhaust gasket? I have heard that 99+ after market headers will work find on an earlier head.. don't know for sure though.
