Jeep Strokers

For some reason this is the only pic I have of the motor, looks much prettier in person. 351w, Trickflow heads, wiend intake port matched, exhaust manifolds port matched, holley 4160, Harland sharp roller rockers, cam research camshaft, reverse rotation motor. Boat goes 54mph at 5400rpm (cam limited)

I found that the AIRTEX / WELLS Part # 5G1087 has a 49psi rating on another forum, does anybody here use this regulator?

Has anybody actually built this stroker or is this a desk dyno build?

That isn't a very good combination.
The compression ratio is too low amplified by the fact that you're running the full circle dish and no quench.

Isn't that close to factory compression? Why wouldn't factory compression be the safe bet?

That's the old version. Here's the current version and, like its forebear, it's intended for those who want to run 87 octane.

Is that from a desktop dyno?

I talked with Russ for almost an 1 1/2 hours over the phone and he made me so much more confident in what I'm building. So far I know:

-9.5 static compression which should be about 8.7 dynamic and I will be able to run 87 octane
-Russes Racetec Pistons 60 over and Scat rods which he will balance and assemble.
-Comp camshaft Nitride treatment, an extra $110 but I think a great investment so I don't wipe a lobe
-Going to pick up another block from the junkyard
-99+ intake
-The 4.2 crank I already pulled


I'm still deciding on what to do about the head, which boils down to how much the machining costs to put in the Chevy valves and Springs in a 7120 head.

Russ is a good guy.

Which cam are you going to use?

I don't remember what Russ suggested but I'm certain it was on the milder side

Probably the 68-232-4 cam which is a good all rounder. The cam in my rockcrawler combo is more of an "RV" cam biased towards producing more low rev torque (especially off idle) and less HP.

I keep seeing those stroker recipes on the web, are the ones you list dyno proven?

Yeah if only I could have free access to an engine dyno to do that!
Unfortunately my desktop dyno has to do but as long as I can input detailed engine specs, the results are pretty accurate.
