My crank looks like its going to be cut 10 , the 7120 is getting valve job, 677 pistons are in as well as the camshaft, bolt pin spring only cost $9 so that's cool. All I need are the timing setup and its going to be partially built to determine figment and quench height. That's where I'm at.

If you had 0.010" shaved from the block the quench will come in at around 0.078".
As I said in an earlier post, I highly recommend that you smooth off any rough edges in the combustion chambers and piston dishes. Try to get them to a near mirror like finish to reduce the chances of detonation. Also use colder plugs e.g. Champion RC10LYC.

Thanks. My engine builder said since the bowls are slightly rough its a good thing. If smoothing them out is good to help prevent detonation, then I will surely do that.

The bowls that your machinist is referring to is the area underneath the valve seat in the head. That's called the bowl. It's desirable to have the intake bowl rough as opposed to smooth because it helps atomization.
Dino is referring to the combustion chamber. That you want smooth.

I realize this post is a few months old, but in reading up to learn...I certainly was very entertained by this thread. Hope my future posts don't get my balls busted quite as much. However, there is a LOT of great info in this thread. Thanks to the OP and everyone for sharing their hard earned knowledge!
