Hey Jeepers,
Has anyone looked in to the Pulstar plugs?

I took a hard look at them. I have seen very few positive info and the ones that do seem like marketing hype. It was a while ago so I don't remember the specifics. They are also expensive.

I'm going to try the E3 plugs eventually though.

Well, I'm a newbie to stokers, but not to 4L engines. I had a 96 XJ that ran far better on NGK plugs than it did the stock plugs or Bosche Platinums. That was a stock 4L engine. My current 4L engine (in an 06 LJ Rubi) runs good on whatever the stock plugs are, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it might like NGK plugs even better.

I don't know if the above would carry over to strokers, but my stock 4L engine experiences are that stock plugs are good and NGK are best. Those exotic Boshe platinum things messed up my torque (couldn't pull a hill in OD anymore) and my gas mileage went down.

Does that also apply to strokers? I don't know.

I also like the NGKs. My 2000 in stock form didn't care for the Champion truck plugs and the NGKs were OEM.. it liked them better.

IIRC, the factory recommended plugs for the OBD2 XJs were NGKs.

Hey Jeeps,
I tried the E3 plugs in my engine when it was a straight 4.0 and the tried them in my other Jeep, a '99 GC. NEITHER engine would run with these plugs. My XJ, when it was a 4.0, would idle and that was it. Wouldn't drive down the street, though. Then there's the Pulstar plugs for $25.00 each!!! Mine seems to be running well with a tiny bit of pinging, so I'm gonna try the next cooler range plug. The Champion RC9's I think.
