Sorry for the slow reply guys, but I'm in Islamarada living it up this weekend.

I knew i spoke to soon with the Ford n chevy comment I made so, I've done some more searching and the chevy n fords do have the problem of wiping cams as well. Turns out the chevys wipe cams more so then us. Its just they have easy fixes n we dont. I imagine ford will be right there with em. So I stand corrected. BUT.........
The mopar guys running mopar cams didnt have the problem of wiping cams, just like the guys here running wide mopar lobes don't wipe cams. Not saying it dosent happen but from what I've researched n found its pretty rare. The mopars seem to wipe cams much more so when running the small chevy lobes. Even though you know everything already Dustyfart you should check out some mopar forums n read what they had to say back then. Most of them have switched to roller cams now so it's no longer an issue.

The chevy lobe is 25% smaller then the mopar lobes. The larger lobes will still carry more lube regardless of the contact area. That means more cooling and better lubricity then a narrow lobe could provide. 25% more to be exact. That fact is unarguable, don't you agree?
I'm not saying the only cause of the failures were skinny lobes as it was a combination of things. At the same time though for you to suggest that the skinny lobe played no part whatsoever is arrogant and condensending to say the very least, if not downright ludicrous.

You didn't search enough.

Its not the cam lobe that is the primary failure point. As mentioned the lobe is secondary to something else.

Take the lifter diameter, do some math and then come to a conclusion.

On a LONG stretch you might also want to investigate the sources for lifters for all three. Then consider the volume of Chevy and Ford owners vs. Mopar.

Enjoy your weekend of fun and friends.
