It was a last ditch attempt to try to help you but alas, it seems to be a fruitless exercise.

Well tonight i swapped in new rockers , pivots , bridges and pushrods. It sounds a little quieter. If you put your forehead on the fender and listen sometimes it fades away. I put one of my 99 xjs in the garage and listened and the 4.0 has that sound as well. Maybe im just expecting perfection but thats as perfect as it gets. Maybe try risolene in the next oil change and see if it differs idk.

What does the fender have to do with the engine?

What do you hope to do with risolene? Did you assemble the engine in the dirt?

Mine's made a tapping since I put it together in '08. I just wiped the whole thing down with Fuckit and put 8 years and 60,000 miles on it. So far.
I NEED MORE TORQUE!

'03 Rubicon w/4.6: kb944 pistons, late 70's 4 weight crank, Mopar P4529228ab cam, 240 dur./.430 lift, barely polished head. First fire 11/14/08, no mechanical issues so far.

Tightened the rockers down as suggested with no difference. I know the exhaust donut is leaking but I dont think its my issue though. I know its not a cracked manifold been there before. With a steth I hear all the lifters but no noise obnoxious. All the rockers are moving the same. Im going to try mmo and see if it helps. The first break in there were no problems. This all happened after the first oil change. Its gotta be a oiling issue. All rockers are getting oiled though so the pump is doing its job. Isk here !!!

-We still don't know what this noise sounds like.

-The best next step is to upload that video cause I think everyone has thrown every guess at you without knowing how your engine sounds like. It seems a little unfair to the people trying to help you I think.

-Fixing that leaking exhaust donut should be part of your elimination process IMO.

-Upload that video.

The Eagle is at the local mechanic to give it a good look over. He said definately upper end issue for sure. He' going over the cam specs and going to make sure pushrod length is right. I told him my builder said it was able to use stock pushrods but he said that doesnt mean shit lol. This guys been building engines for fifty years ! Hopefully thats the issue and if not ill wait on Russ. He also said my first camshaft I removed looked great and should try selling it. I trust this guy because he has superman knowledge on engines like Russ and Dino. Okay you jaysawduste as well. But youre still a dick.

Russ definitely has superman knowledge about engines.
Mine is merely above average.
