You're are better off atleast boring 20 or 30 over, I did 40, the piston rings wear into the cylinder wall so mu that there is a ridge you can catch your fingernail on, at the top 1/2 inch of the cylinder. For the 258 crank this needs to be bored out, or the rings will catch, just plan on boreing it, its only 30-40$ per hole at most shops, the carquest in lacrosse, wi. Was awesome, lots of inline diesel blocks laying around

You might be able to if the bore is in great shape. Mine was hardly worn, still had crosshatch and the ridge was so small I could push the pistons out. It is not a great idea though as the pistons will be a bit loose and could slap and make noise they also just won't seal as well. Boring it 0.020 over will give you a little more power from the increased displacement as a result of the slightly bigger pistons but not enough you will notice.

Your questions were already answered by a few people. Reusing the stock bore with that mileage is the half-assed way to do it.
