Re: Valve Cover Clearance and Roller Rockers

FWIW ended up ditching the used cover I found on CL. Just was not satisfied that I could get the area above the baffle clean enough. Turns out Rock Auto sells a Dorman replacement cover that includes the grommet, oil fill cap, hardware and a new gasket. With a discount code it was about 75 bucks to the door. If you figure the cost of a used cover plus the parts and gasket kit the price is PDG.
The cover is decently made and comes in a black powdercoat finish. I removed the grommets and fill cap, scuffed up the surface with some Scotchbrite and painted it.
The stock bolts are 1 1/4 in length including the head. I purchased a set of 15 stainless steel 1/4 x 20 studs from McMaster Carr to replace the bolts. I went to 2 inchers because of the VC spacer to clear the roller rockers but that`s a different story.
Dorman 47079 and 47057 are the two elbows with the open one in the front of the VC.
