Yes that's indeed the correct deck clearance for a stock 4.0. Since the stock 4.0 has a 0.051" head gasket, the quench comes to 0.0725".

After playing with the calculator I think I've come up with something decent for my price range.

4.2 crank and rods
Zero deck the block
Silvolite 2229 .30 pistons dished to 28 cc's
.043 head gasket- .043 quench
Crower 44243 cam
SCR-9.06
DCR-7.75

I called crower and they said new valves springs would not be needed.
I'm not sure what the exact HP and torque numbers will be but I'm guessing close to the low buck low cr and poor mans stroker. Any thoughts on this combo?

I'm also considering the comp cams 68-115-4 but it brings the DCR up to 8.25. Would I need to worry about pinging with this combo? I'm hoping to run 87 or 89 but premium wouldn't be bad either.

I was going to use the stock cam but the DCR stays below 7 even when lowering the piston dish. My understanding is I'd lose some performance with the lower DCR.
