Re: Stroker Setup, Questions
Injectors: Just because they say 24.4, does not mean they will be that on your 49 psi fuel rail. That 24.4 maybe at 43.5 psi. I recommend the Bosch 0-280-155-784. They will flow around 24-25 psi. Those injectors also have the wrong socket for your Jeep. They are the old style square Bosch EV1 sockets.

Re: Stroker Setup, Questions
According to Dino's page (http://jeep4.0performance.4mg.com/tech_specs.html), they're 24.4 lbs @ 44.1 psi, so that puts them at 22.95 lbs @ 39 psi. That might actually have me running a little lean? The 25.6 lbs @ 44.1 psi Accel injectors would be 24.07 lbs @ 39 psi.
A couple of the retaining clips on my injector pigtails/harnesses are broken, so I wouldn't mind picking up a set of EV1s to replace them with. Besides the electrical connections, will the Accel injectors (or the Bosch or FMS for that matter) physically fit into the head and fuel rail without any modification?
Thanks again!

If this is for your 2000 your fuel rail pressure is 49psi

Re: Stroker Setup, Questions
...and this is why I'm here. Doh...
In that case, the Accel 24.4 lb @ 44.1 psi will give me 26.90 lb @ 49 psi - a little much. But the 21.1 lb @ 44.1 psi will only give me 23.65 lb @ 49 psi.
Do you have a source for those Bosch injectors? I can't find them anywhere.

Re: Stroker Setup, Questions
...okay, injectors seem to be the bane (or at least one of the bigger ones) of the stroker build. I'm going to try some reverse math instead... Seems like most injectors are rated at 3 BAR/43.5 psi, so if I'm looking for something that's 24 lb @ 49 psi, that means I want to find something that's 22.61 lb @ 43.5 psi. That sound right?

Post bomb, I realize, sorry...
Found a couple of injectors that might work for me - can somebody confirm?

Re: Stroker Setup, Questions
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-HERKO-FUEL- ... e3&vxp=mtr While that is only 4 your could possibly ask for 6... also there is a good list of cars that those fit. You could search for those.
4L8E-A4A, those will be around 27lb/hr. I initially had those. Didn't fit worth a crap.
XF2CE-C4B: About stock sized
XR3E-A4B: Might work, but my notes say that they were just a tad too small on my stroker. Your mileage may vary.
I've tried both of those injectors.
53032704AB For a Jeep 4.7L is a decent fit, 4 hole Green band. As is the 53032145AA, but they are single hole.
These look interesting, but I haven't tried them myself: 0-280-156-162, 53031740AA(0-280-155-934)

Re: Stroker Setup, Questions
Been latent awhile - spent last weekend in Texas for work, and this weekend setting up new furniture and helping with a friend's in-laws' new house. Trying to get back on this - I want to have parts in the garage by April.
The injectors are still the big thing holding me up, and I just haven't had much time to spend on them. I think I've found a good set of the Bosch Neon injectors (I believe the same ones you recommend, SilverXJ); can somebody confirm: http://www.ebay.com/itm/99-04-Wrangler- ... 30&vxp=mtr
Those are probably what I'm going to run with, if they're okay. I have a set up Bosch "upgraded" injectors in right now from Precision Auto, and until I had fluids mixing, she ran great. No clue what the part number on them is; they've got a turquoise case.

Re: Stroker Setup, Questions
Sick day from work - plenty of time to look for injectors (class was even canceled, must be something going around)...
All of these guys are supposedly the Bosch 0280155784 (Neon) injectors. Two different suppliers, two listings for each of them. Thing I can't figure out with the two dimarmotorsportsllc listings is that one only has 0280155784 as the "interchange part number", doesn't give any real specifics about the injectors, and has the exact same pics, but is $30 cheaper.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-Year-Warranty ... 62&vxp=mtr (oddly cheaper, less specific listing)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-Year-Warranty ... 56&vxp=mtr
http://www.ebay.com/itm/99-01-Cherokee- ... d0&vxp=mtr
http://www.ebay.com/itm/99-04-GrandCher ... 07&vxp=mtr
Probably going to go with the second dimarmotorsportsllc listing. More expensive of their two listings, but all the details are there, which gives me the warm fuzzies. Also cheaper than fuel_injector_physician, and a higher feedback rating.
Got the engine hoist set up last night. I'm getting anxious...

Re: Stroker Setup, Questions
I recommend the Ford Blue tops, or the Accels if you must (I get a little nervous about their quality). One because they are cheap, are proven, and everyone else runs them. They make for easy tuning.

Re: Stroker Setup, Questions
Even on the 49 psi rail? I thought the Ford injectors would have too high a flow at that pressure?

Re: Stroker Setup, Questions
Thanks again for all the help guys!
This project is finally starting to see some traction... I ordered the crank, main and cam bearings, rocker set, and cylinder head today. I thought that was a big enough dent in the bank account for one day, so I'm holding off a bit for the rest. Engine stand is waiting for me across town.
One thing I've wanted to be particular on is getting ahold of a 723 (12 CW) crank rather than a 477 (4 CW) one. Did some calling, and "Crankshaft Rebuilders Inc." does NOT differentiate between the two, so if you get one by them from Advance/O'Reilly, it's a luck of the draw. I had been planning on grabbing a Marshall one (they DO differentiate between the two castings) off of Rock Auto, but they disappeared a couple weeks ago. For whatever reason, they showed back up today, so I was all over it.
I called the machine shop last week, and much to my delight he says he does at least a couple of these every year - knew the numbers off the top of his head! Icing on the cake is that he says he'll probably only charge me half of what I'd been planning for.
The weather is officially warm and sunny, so the truck is going to get parked outside starting next week, so that the Jeep can chill in the garage for the next couple of months... Can't wait to get going on this...

You won't notice a difference between the 12 and 4 wt crankshaft.

Re: Stroker Setup, Questions
I've seen a ton of articles/posts about people recommending the 12 CW over the 4 CW, mainly for low RPM operation. Unfortunately, short of hitting the pick-and-pull, I can't find one anywhere (actually, there's a guy in Turkey selling some on eBay, but the shipping puts it over $500). I'm not gonna have time for that for another couple of months, so I'm just going with the short nose crank - tons of people running that one without any problems.
Burned some more cash today... In addition to the crank, I've got pistons, rings, cam/lifters, gaskets, springs/retainers/locks, timing set, bolts/plugs, and injectors on the way. I'm going to put together a spreadsheet or two when I get some more time (hahaha) showing what all parts I got and from where, and my order totals, just for reference for anyone else that wants to know. For the record, I'm up to $2376.59 (that includes core charges).
Pulled the Jeep into the garage Sunday evening right after I flew home...

Re: Stroker Setup, Questions
Rez - at least it's my own thread...
Obviously, this project is taking me WAY longer than I anticipated. They keep sending me across the country for work (okay, I volunteer - gotta love that travel pay), and I had a girlfriend for a few months that... Well, let's just say I finally decided I liked the Jeep better than her.
The engine bay is completely gutted, minus the engine itself. At the suggestion of a couple of my so-I-thought mechanically inclined buddies, I was going to try and yank it out with the tranny and transfer case still attached... Without pulling the hood off (I don't want to mess with re-aligning it), that's not really a possibility... Also, putting the whole mess BACK after such an attempt is... ...challenging...
SO, I'm currently two bolts away from wriggling the transmission off of the block (I was slightly amazed to find that there are only four bolts actually holding the two together). After that, the engine will be easy peasy to pull out, and I can tear it apart and get it to the machine shop (who's been waiting for me since August...
).
Okay, slight waste of internet in the above paragraphs, but I do have a question... I was eventually planning on replacing the exhaust anyhow, but finding mine seized into one single piece, hence requiring the use of a sawzall to extract, has forced my hand. I'm probably going to go with Gibson from the main cat back (love the sound), but I'm not quite sure what to go with on the pre-cats/collector. From reading this thread, Catco seems to be well regarded, and I should avoid Walker. However, I came across a Magnaflow (albeit about 3 times as expensive), and was wondering if anyone had any experience with it? Additionally, the Catco seems to require an extra front pipe after the collector (can't imagine that'd be terribly expensive), and the Magnaflow looks like it goes all the way back to the cat, like the factory setup.
As always, you guys are great! Thanks for all the help!
