Re: 4.9 stroker done....now computer gremlins
Hey guys, ordered up a Fast Stand alone fuel injection system for the jeep and a clifford intake. Fast system already got here, waiting on the clifford intake should be here by this weekend. After reading the instructons I have a couple of questions. Will I be able to use my current distributer? If so, will the computer still set the timing or will I need to ditch the setup since the factory computer will not have and info since I will be using the fast system and computer. If I do ditch the distributer will a HEI drop in? Thanks

Have not setup a stand alone on a Jeep. Did you get it going or installed yet?
When you mentioned stock head was it stock valves/ports? Our builds appear similar save for mine having lower compression for the turbo plans.

FAST system works great, idles great, keeping it around 800-850, system takes a little while to learn. On the fly adjustability. Nice kit.....

Nice.
What distributor did you end up using?
So how does it run, rev, power range? open shorter intake- what is your opinion?

Re: 4.9 stroker done....now computer gremlins
After some great support from Keith at NewComer Racing I went with the clifford intake, he ported it a little for me, also recommended the FAST system. Its nice, set my rev limiter about 6K, definately makes some good power. I ended up buying HEI drop in dist from ebay $60 shipped, 12 degrees base timing, about 32 or so total. Had to wire up mopar external regulator for alternator. Way better than my OBD1 setup. Idle is perfect, sounds mean. Keith builds a hell of a motor. Now I'm still held back power wise by the exhaust, stock header, prob end up with a 3" collector system if I can make it fit.
One great reason for the FAST system is ability to set target A/F for idle, cruise, and WOT. Took mine close to 300 miles to get it dialed in exactly right trying different combos

Re: 4.9 stroker done....now computer gremlins
Just curious but would the banks header I am using on the 99 WJ (california emissions package) flow better than a single outlet header? Mine has Dual outlets on it for the dual cats, hence it would be possible to run Dual pipes from it down to a single 3 or 4" Y and out the back. It is more of an equal length shorty design than a full length header though... so not certain if it has any advantages other than larger collector potential?

Ive heard duals are better, Keith @ Newcomer would prob know, most of his dyno runs have been with a big header with large primaries and a 3" Collector

After this season gonna get him to port my head(its stock other than bigger valves), then gonna get a header, not sure which way I will go, driveshaft and oil pan clearance is an issue right now
