Sounds like a valve float issue. If you're using old stock valve springs, they're probably tired and you'll need to replace them with new ones.

yeah i am starting to think vaulve springs but not sure yet but as soon as i get the money up i am going to replace them with better ones anyways ...

I am with Dino on this, my springs caused the same issue, as the rpm dropped the engine recovered then fell on its face again as it peaked 4000.

I just installed a titan 4.9 and mine does the same thing but the valves just dont seem like they would be a problem
my jeep will hit about 3800 and then just stop, but i can accelerate just fine as long as i dont punch it, also im running lean according to the auto meter.... alll the time even at idle, could this be caused by fuel starvation? titan guy told me to install a fuel pressure regulator from a dodge dynasty to up the injectors to 27lbs vs 24
