TJ9999 wrote:Hi all on this great forum,

Don't want to hijack this post but I have a similar question for my 2004 TJ.
I have a 4.7L stroker which runs fine on the stock injectors. I read that the injectors on a 2004 model are not the same as a 1997 model (6EV vs 1EV?).
To get most out of it I plan to change my injectors and am looking at the 24# Ford injectors. I have no idea if this is useful and how much pressure and flow the stock (2004 model) injectors bring.
Any advice for a noob concerning the injectors I should choose? I found an adjustable pressure regulator for sale on another forum, is that a useful thing to buy and adjust fuel pressure?
I live at normal altitude and my stoker is running fine since 3000 miles, no problems with overheating.

Thanks and have a nice day, we have indian summer here in France.
Hello. I was not aware "stroker" engines kept going after the 2001 XJ cutoff. If you have the newer 99' and up EV-6 connections I have a number of sets of these injectors. This is NOT my auction but it is the same injectors so you can read all the specs about them. Send me a PM if you are interested. Or send me a PM even if you aren't. Never got one on this forum yet and curious how it works. :D

4.0s were made until 2006, when they were replaced with the 1mpg more fuel efficient 3.8l caravan v-6(not a fan). Those 27#@43.5psi injectors might be a tad large for many obd2 strokers with 49psi rails, where they'd effectively be 28.6#. They might be great, but I wouldn't be so quick to recommend them unless you've tried them.

Well obviously anybody who sells anything can't personally try it all. All we can do is go by what is suggested for usage by those who make the item in question. For example I sell tractor trailer parts for a living and all day long I suggest various brands or upgrades of parts for them even though I've never driven a big rig myself. I saw this particualr number Bosch injectors mentioned on a wide variety of websites specifically for the 4.7 I6 Stroker engine so figure there must be something to it. I will yield the floor to the gentlemen with the greater expertise on strokers.

I've only ever tried two injectors: the old single pintle ford blue tops rated 24#@39psi, and the six-pintle LT1 silver top/black bottoms, rated 24#@43.5psi(25.6# on my 49psi rail). My Jeep liked the lt1s better. SilverXJ has tried a few different injectors on his and when you start getting -15-25% fuel trims in closed loop, you realize the injectors are way too big for the application. Now I'm expecting my brother's 4.9l to need 27#-30# injectors(he needs ev1s for the renix though) while he's in NA form, so those w/ adapters might be the ticket. I suggest all-blue one piece plastic ford/bosch injectors w/ 4-pintles rated 24#@43.5psi for obd2s.

No problem. I think you mean the 0280155715`s?

I don't know the numbers off the top of my head, but early obd2s are ev1s and later obd2s are ev6s, so there would be different p/ns depending on application.

Thanks for your replies.
I guess that for my 2004 model TJ which is ODB2 I need EV6 injectors. Can someone confirm the pressure on a 2004 model? Is it a 49 psi rail?
27# injectors seem too large, actually I would like to know wether I should remain with the stock ones or upgrade to 23# or 24# for better performance?

Locate the part number on the side of the injector because they have different options of injectors for example:

53030778 Fuel Injector 4.0L 87-99 (EV1 Grey 23.2Lbs@49PSI)
04854181 Fuel Injector TJ 4.0L 00-05 (EV6 Blue 19Lbs@49PSI)

But are'nt those just stock single port injectors? Aside from #/psi I thought one of the main reasons for an injector "upgrade" was to get the 4-port design ones for better fuel atomization/delivery.

I have the EV6 19 lb/s version in my 2004 TJ.
I can get Bosch 4-port 24 lb/s injectors for a fairly good price, would that be a good choice for my 4.7 stroker seen the higher pressure rail on the 2004MJ? Or too much?
Will fit a 62mm TB at the same time for better flow with a ported manifold from NewComer Racing. I already have a Banks header.

Below a picture of the Bosch 24 lb/s injector:

Is there a Bosch number on the opposite side of the dark blue Ford injector you have pictured?

Part number should be 0280156162. At 3 bar they flow 24cc/23.61 lbs. They would flow right around 25 lb @ 49psi

Thank you for the info SilverXJ! :D

But on my 2004 model I believe that the pressure is 58psi, not 49. Would the flow not be to high?

I guess I will give it a shot and buy them next week from jeeper who abandoned his stroker project. It's a combo together with an adjustable FPR and a prepared manifold and 62mm TB.

I don't know when they changed the fuel pressure on the TJs. I know on the '04 WJs the fuel pressure was 49. If your fuel rail is in fact 58psi those injectors would flow 27.262479711134127, which would probably be too much,

Also, the manifold looks like an XJ manifold.. your TJ manifold maybe slightly different and may take some mods to work, specifically the vacuum ports.

The manifold in the picture should be a late TJ model 03-06 manifold.

Not sure either when they changed the pressure on the TJ model. MJ 2005 has the 58psi FPR for sure.
I will have to find out wether my MJ 2004 has 49 psi or 58 psi before I mount those 24 lb/s injectors..
