I'm getting ready to do a 258 head and have been wondering just how much meat is there before finding water. If you don't mind, where are the major areas of concern for casting wall thickness?
Thanks!

Probably because the molds were still new
wouldnt the more the molds were used the bigger they would be? so the should mean that the newer blocks would have more meat

We just opened the port walls and ceiling to the gasket, the floor was just cleaned up, you want maximum radius and straight throat under the valve, lowering the port floor will decrease both of those, "standard" porting techniques were observed for the rest, we don't have any #'s to support any claims, just the bitching from the other competitors about being beat by a RAMBLER!

Yes and no, the molds are for the water jackets, the more worn they get the bigger the water jackets get, the thinner the castings get.

I certainly wasn't going to lower the floor but I was wondering how much of that short-turn radius I could massage out before striking water. Thanks
