Correct
Makes 450hp and 500t/lbs at 13lbs.

The new issue is out. they made a final reading of 693 hp and 777 fpt!!! They said with bigger injectors, they should make 800 hp!!! That's pretty fierce.

They claim 298 CFM of flow with a 2" intake valve. The cam looks pretty mild and really not that much lift.

It would be great if you could buy a 500 hp crate engine. Lots of details missing
The lack of detail does seem suspicious to me, not to mention that the actual displacement of their "5.0L stroker" is 4860cc (3.937" bore, 4.06" stroke). The stock rocker arm ratio of 1.5 that they mentioned is incorrect and I'd also call BS on their 298cfm intake flow claim. The best I've ever seen from a 4.0 head with a 2.02" intake valve is ~250cfm.
You would also think that a well-built 4.9 stroker (not 5.0) would put out something like 300hp (crank) in N/A form so with 30psi of boost, it should put out near 800hp even allowing for a 1.5 point drop in SCR for the turbo so they're not even close.
I wonder how long their engine would last with 30psi of boost and wafer thin cylinders. Probably one more dyno run before it turns to shrapnel.

For once I actually agree with you.

Note that they also are using a very small turbo and a 2" inlet tube, that made me question it right from the first picture

Does the article state what turbo theyre using for these power numbers? Id like to see what turbine theyre using? t3? t4? A/R?

I find it funny that they call their kit a 5.0L stroker kit.

Without a custom crank grind, custom rods and custom pistons - it's impossible.

--------------

Dino,

Good turbo camshafts are very mellow, "stockish" camshafts.

Its totally doable- haha. Just over bore the motor .250". The block should look something like the Audi symbol when done.

The worst thing is presumably people still buy from 505 Performance. Imaginary siamesed bores and all....

They didn't even know that the KB944 is actually NOT a 9.0:1 piston (it's 9.5:1)

My thoughts exactly. Bore size is 3.937", stroke is 4.06", there's 6 cylinders, making the displacement 296.6ci or 4860cc so it's only just a 4.9L stroker.
YJ_and_Corey wrote:Without a custom crank grind, custom rods and custom pistons - it's impossible.
They use an offset-ground 258 crank, Eagle forged 6.150" rods with 0.912" bushed small ends, and Ross +0.060" custom forged pistons with full-floating pins.

You're indeed correct about that.

250 cfm for a 2.02 valve is lame. For instance my head flows over 260cfm @28" .525 lift with a STOCK valve. I've not seen the article in question but I know of cast iron heads that flow in excess of 320 with 2.05 valve. Just food for thought, not trying to pick a fight Dino.

I was just quoting what I remember about the Accurate Power big valve ported head (2.02"/1.60") when it was available (247cfm intake, 157cfm exhaust at 0.500" lift) and another 4.0 head (can't remember who built it) with the same size valves that flowed 252cfm intake, 153cfm exhaust at the same lift. Your head is certainly sounds impressive Sixpak. I've often questioned if there's any benefit to using oversize valves in the 4.0 head 'cause of potential shrouding problems, and it's no coincidence that Hesco chose to use stock sized valves in their aluminium head. Unfortunately their flow numbers are a closely guarded secret.
Just knowing the limitations of the non-crossflow 4.0 head design is what makes me sceptical about 505 Performance's claim of 298cfm for their head through a 2" valve. I'd be happy if someone could prove me wrong though (it won't be the first time ;) ).

Just wondered why there was so much negativety on this insane inline i think it is great someone can make that kind of power with one of these engines. Give credit where it is do

Because there are no details, no real information, and for all we know its just a bunch of made up numbers. Also, 505 had a chance to offer their services but all they gave us was an advertisement with no real details and didn't answer many, if any questions here. Which is very much inline with that article.

If you want to give someone credit call Bennie at Hesco and thank him for having the current record of 750 ponies on an engine dyno.

505 Performance are such clowns it isn't funny.
