IIRC CA models from 81-
49 state from 87-

87 Wranglers 4.2l were serpertine

You do not have to machine the long snout crank down for a serpentine drive, you could also use a spacer as I commonly do.

Well just to make things easier lol the 4.2 I have is a 82.

does your 1982 4.2 have a serpentine belt drive on it?
If it does you are good to go, if it doesn't you'll need the spacer.
if you only have a bare block and crank you'll have to check casting numbers. (3727 is a serp drive)

you could measure the snout as well.
