Do you have a Spare CPS anywhere to swap in and see what happens?

You didnt have the timing chain off did you?

Nope, timing chain wasn't off. I HAD a spare CPS, but I can't find it now. I though I had it in the tool box in the trunk but its not there.

I was reading the beging of this thread trying to figure out what could have gone wrong. You say you replaced the throw out bearing. Is the crank position sensor ok? I was reading on alldata that Jeep used a 2 bolt mount and a single bolt mount crank position sensor. The single bolt mount sensor is adjustable(in and out). Alldata gives a Mopar part number for a paper spacer that you place on the bottom of the sensor. You install the sensor until the paper touches the flywheel, and tighten down the sensor. It says that when you start the engine the flywheel will remove the paper, and the crank pos. sensor is properly adjusted. What type does your Jeep have? does this apply?

Its the two bolt one with out the paper spacer deal. When I put a new one in it didn't have a spacer on it, as it just bolted in place.

I replaced the thrust bearing, not throw out... did I say throw out by accident someplace?

The issue does seem timing related though.

You're right, my bad. You did say thrust bearing.

I just don't know. Both O2 sensors appear to be operating the same and I doubt they both failed.. plus the wideband is fine. I've has a TPS fail prior from just sitting, in this case maybe the CPS. But this doesn't seem like CPS fashion, which usually fail at any RPM and are hard to restart.

I'm going to swap the battery out tomorrow and see if that does anything. I did drain it while it was down.

Do you Have ALLdata? I dont want to post something you already have. You mentioned your map sensor, and testing the ohms, but it is tested by voltage while running at idle and warmed up. In that condition you should be getting 1.5-2.1 volts on the B wire or center wire. Maybe give that a shot?

No, I tested the Map using volts, the cps using ohms.

Yes, you did. My appologies.

I had a bad injector in another vehicle and found out which one by unplugging each injector electrical connector while it was running until i found the one that didn't effect the idle. If the miss is consistent then this might identify which cylinder is having issues. Unless of course its not consistent.

Im telling ya, you just have the worst luck with strokers...

But its not stroker related! The crank/thrust bearing issue is though. Hopefully that is taken care of though.

It wasn't the battery and for shits and giggles I swapped out the whole cam sensor and drive with no change. There was an issue with the drive seizing and thought that could possibly be the problem even though it spun freely when I had it out. I would say that it is a possibility that the PCM hasn't learned yet, but it never did this is the past when I reset the PCM.

So, I ordered a CPS since I couldn't find my spare. If that doesn't work I don't know what I am going to do.. maybe drag it over to the ex-Jeep dealer and see if they can at least still work on them... then convince them that it was running fine before and it isn't all the mods I have on it. :brickwall:
