By theri own admission their roller cam won't get more than 100,000 miles. Besides that I wouldn't touch anything by 505.. even if they didn't make it they have a propensity to screw up orders and shipping. Get your parts elsewhere.

It is part # 50159 in the Edelbrock catalog.
Summit is showing it listed at $1179.50.

I would not expect to see the casting go for half the price of the complete head unless it was right out of the mold!

They have it priced $646.70-$1511.89
Does that mean that there will be a 'bare' casting available for $646.70 ?
I would buy that.
I just checked JCWhitney's website. A lot of their heads are listed as universal and none of the manufacturer's part numbers match the Edelbrock 50159 or 50169 that fits the 4L. ....and the graphic they show is missing a set of valves, so I wouldn't get too excited quite yet....

$1489.97 for the assembled head is Not too bad

Those push rod holes look pretty large.

Let`s see where this goes.
Educated crystal ball is telling me that in order to take (a reasonable) advantage of the new head your looking around purchase price x 2 as a conservative start.
For that you may gain 15-25% with potential higher gains relative to $$ spent.

Here was my thinking when I plopped down close to $1500 for this head. First off I currently have the infamous 331 head, well two to be exact. At first I considered the Clearwater head which isnt really cheap and then once you ad some porting and other doo dads I figure I would have 800 bucks easy in that option probably more. I like the reduced weight of the aluminum head and any help with detonation is welcome. It flows better than the stock castings and I wont have the expense of porting etc. at first anyway. Yes it was a luxury and not absolutely necessary but every other car I have built has benefited from aluminum heads and they have much more potential than the iron heads if I have the desire to ramp things up later.

Yea I don't see any reason you couldn't run 9.6:1 compression with a stock or mild cam on 87 octane with the ALU. head. So far this winter I'm getting away with 87 octane with a stock head and a Mopar 229 cam but it is quite cold out. I originally planned on only running 93 but hey figured I would give it a shot.

If you have a '00+ Jeep with the 0331 head, the only downside to swapping in the Edelbrock head is that you'd have to use either an aftermarket header (perhaps Edelbrock's own EDL-65923 shorty) or a '91-'99 stock header 'cause the design of the exhaust ports is based on the earlier 7120/0630 heads.
I've just updated my site to feature this new head and its flow specs:

If going this route what changes are necessary considering the two o2 sensors are located on the header on the '00 & '01 models?

Edlebrock got out of the exhaust business some 5 years ago. A Google search for a EDL-65923 turned up nothing.
Digging a little bit below the surface this new head is like a blank canvas. All kinds of potential not worth all that much as is.
That is not to say I am bashing it. It is to say that in order to get much of a performance increase you will need to address how an engine is built and tuned to truly tap the potential. Personal 180 day plan is to build one so I believe in the part but not so much as a bolt on. You can purchase plenty of lower octane fuel for the cost of one of these heads if that`s your angle.
I`ll go on record as saying on a stock or typical low DCR compression/high squish stroker the engine may very well be less efficient.

Yeah, just found out that Summit Racing have a suitable substitute in the form of a Gibson shorty header:

Saw the Gibson, Dino but a simple chrome finish doesn`t make for much of a coating compared to the Edlebrock T-1. Been running a long version of the Edlebrock coated header with absolutely no issues.
Here again we start with a part that ought to be modified or upgraded before being put into service.

While putting the head on a standard stroker build for an iron head may see gains from the improved chamber and flow the bottom end should be optimized for the aluminum head. At minimum the compression should be upped to take advantage of the aluminum. Ideally piston dish & squish pad should be modified to match the new design of the Edelbrock chamber.

Most of the "coatings" that come on headers from the factory are simple aesthetic coatings. For coatings that actually provide benefits greater than looks the likes of Swaintech, Techline or Jet-Hot should be used.

At least there are plenty of other alternatives:
