Timing chain covers

Post by dwg86 »

I was looking at the timing chain cover that came off the 2001 4.0. I don't see the "nipple" that is on the earlier timing chain covers. Anyone have any pictures of an earlier timing chain cover?

i ran into the same problem, i had to use the 93 timing cover on my 2001 block. it just takes some longer bolts in places. my 2001 timing cover dident have the cam button nipple either.

Don’t know if this helps any, but here is a shot of mine before I removed it to fix my shops boo boo (forgot the pin and spring after I told them not to install the cover.

That’s unfortunate that you can’t locate a slinger. I just got my hands on one and a few other OE parts through my local Dodge dealer about a month ago. Had them less than 4 days after ordering. I struck out finding an aftermarket one, don’t think they exist myself. Try hitting up some dealers outside of your area and get them to ship it. Good luck.
