Quench height question

Post by skyway »

I have a question about quench height, I might of messed up.
This isn't on a stroker, a few years ago I ended up going with a cam and head from Russ on a stock bottom end. The engine got put on the side for a few years and I'm going over everything before I install the engine. I remember Russ suggesting a. 05 head gasket and from my parts list it looks like I bought a .04 gasket with 3.99 bore. Should I pull the head and get a .05 gasket?
Thanks

Which rods & pistons did you use?
How much cylinder overbore does the engine have?
Did you deck the block?

Completely stock never machined block rods pistons. Was a good running engine out of one of my jeeps.

If the block hasn’t been decked your .040 to .043 gasket will be perfect.

Thanks Russ, that's what I suspected but just wanted to make sure.
