When I clicked on the forum this evening I was logged in right off the bat!, my last visit I had to log in.

Awesome.. yeah it was interesting. It appears that you guys may be using a shortcut or something that referenced the http and not the proper https website. The site should be using https only, and thats the way the cookies are set (to be secure). For whatever reason, https redirection was not happening correctly so logging in using http was not letting the cookie store properly.
Anyway, we have proper https redirection in place now and that appears to have fixed this issue.
