Jeep 2.5 may go fast!

Post by TurboTom »

Starting a little project
Going in my Drag Spirit. Boosted of course

Alright...lets get crazy.

Left head 50 lbs, right head 20 lbs

Image

One row of bolts line up (but have to be shifted to center combustion chambers) and yes the pushrods all go up and down!
Since the head has symmetrical ports, a custom camshaft will be needed. I will probably run a dry sump system so I will not need the dist. gear cut on the cam. Ignition will be coil on plug with a 60-2 wheel for injection and timing control.

Just a little eye candy

Cool stuff. That's definitely a Jeep 2.5 block but from which engine did the head come from?

I know LS heads have been welded together to create a LS V12 engine. http://ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-h ... build.html

How well do the coolant ports line up and where would the t-stat and housing go?

Most of the bottom of the head will be welded up and new passages cut.
I will just weld in a T-stat outlet somewhere in the front.
It is an aluminum head......"Cuts Like Butta"

Thanks for the link on the V-12, that is cool

Yes Jeff you could make that happen. I am starting with the 4 to work out all the valve train and fitment issues.

any progress. Im starting a revamp on my build, and one major focus is weight. My main idea is to go I6, and possibly a Al head, but then I keep thinking about doing a turbo 2.5. one thing that would really sweeten the pot for doing a 2.5 would be if I could raise the rev limit substantially, and if I could convince you to send one of those heads my one after you do all the heavy leg work :)
