Average cost to rebuild 4.0 head to stock specs?
I want to rebuild my head completely while doing my stroker. Nothing fancy, just an oem rebuild. My Jeep blew it's head gasket (not sure if that makes a difference/extra work) My Jeep's an 87 Renix, with 170,000 original miles on the engine btw. How much am I looking to spend if I have the head pulled and take it to a machine shop for rebuild?

It's been too long since i had one done to give you an accurate price. Also it depends if the valve guides are worn - more$. have the shop mag it. i just had 3 renix heads come back all cracked between the valves on the #1 cyl. i tried to get some pics, but they are too blury to see. FWIW-2 of them were '87 and 1 was a '90

My machinist charges me ~$250 for a dip, shave, and 3-angle valve job. I have to provide the seals and whatever pieces don't make it through inspection(if a valve got warped bad on an overheat). The thing is you can get a reman'd head(2686, 7120, 0630) shipped to you for ~$250 from odessa or j&c enterprises(and they'd give you a pre-paid box to ship your old head back as a core). I bought a new improved 0331 casting with reman'd valvetrain for $369 from j&c and the engine is running fine a year later.

got any links for J&C or Odessa? I tried google, but got kind of lost. This may be the best option for me.
