Carnage!

Post by bleedsblue » April 10th, 2021, 6:35 pm

So after building a stroker motor I had a spare 4.0.
I happened upon another 2003 4.0 WJ with a bad motor. Guy wanted $500 so I brought it home.

Guy said it was misfiring so he parked it last fall. I pulled the plugs and could see rust inside the #1 cylinder. I sprayed a ton of penetrating oil in the spark plug holes and let it sit overnight. I couldn't even turn the motor over with a cheater bar. Not wanting to break the crank bolt I stopped.
We pulled the motor out today. Had to pull it with the torque converter attached.

I found some SERIOUS rust inside. I had to pull the crankshaft out just to get the flex plate and TC off. Just wanted to share some carnage shots.
