The older blocks have longer piston/bore sleeves but smaller diameter to compensate for there stroke. When your take the longer stroke crankshaft and put it in the 4.0L block and run the stock 242 rods the piston skirt can possibly dip out the bottom of the shorter sleeve/bore wall. Depends on piston design you run.
[242ci] 3.413 stroke vs. [258ci] 3.895 or even the 4.06 long stroke offset grind with smaller journals.

The forum here is rich with information more in depth- use the search tool.

Looking to make room and move my radiator back for more room infront. Reverse Steering Box setup is the idea I am working with atm.

A quick call to Howe Pefromance Steering - Take current steering box place where I want and mock up with pitman arm facing forward where I want it (Reference FAQ link on their site). $1,100 later custom box with zero miles part.

Firewall removed from other jeep, all wiring harness, engine, trans and other components being relocated have also been removed from donor jeep.

2 stages to build.
1st- obdII conversion with newer fire wall, wiring harnesses, dash board… with the engine/trans that came in donor jeep 2001 WJ.
2nd - Performance block with turbo inserted and tuned.

Been working on donor grabbing the parts as time permits.
Bike had trans issue - purchased newer block with fixed issue in trans - got parts back from powder coater - gaskets and other replacement parts on order -
will be working on bike the next few weeks to get it up and running.

Loaned my cherry picker to friend working on his Ford idi block - should have that back shortly.
Then I will get to working on ZJ again pulling the drive shaft, trans, block out of it. Then on to cutting firewall ( plasma/pneumatic sawzal, grinder wheel as needed).

I will throw some pics up soon on what I have done. Just need to load them to photobucket.

Oh turbo housing, chra, etc. at machine shop. Housing unit was cleaned up some from prior wheel gouging. Still need to get chra sent off to get balanced.
Block has been bored 0.060 over and lined honed with torque plate. Still pending deck cleaning up w/ o-ring'ing, cylinder head at shop also for it.
ATI damper at shop as wheel for additional modification to relocate the cps to it instead of the rear of block/flywheel-flexplate.

/cheers
B
