Has anybody gotten a chance to measure the TB / Manifold Height?

I just took a measurement with the TB mounted on the intake with a gasket. The height from the bottom of the Intake Manifold to the top of the Dakota TB is 7 and 1/8 inches.

I got some measurements. From the inside of the manifold floor, closer to the fender is 6.125". From the inside of the manifold floor, closer to the engine is 5.75". From the top exterior surface of the manifold to the top of the TB is 2.93".

Using your points of reference here is what i got:

From the inside of the manifold floor, closer to the fender: 6 and 9/16

From the inside of the manifold floor, closer to the engine: 6 and 1/16

From the top exterior surface of the manifold to the top of the TB: 3 and 1/4

Seems like my set-up may only be about 1/2 inch taller(MAX).... Do think thats going to cause a lot of interference? (its probably more like 5/16 taller)

Quick nooby question. If the head, crank and "other" parts have a thin coat of WD-40 on them to prevent rust while im gathering other parts, then when it comes time for assembly do i need to worry about it? Or should it be cleaned? If it needs to be cleaned off whats the best way to do so??

Thanks!

1/2" taller should be fine. You could just wipe down the excess wd-40 or use brake-cleaner, but it won't hurt anything.

I wipe everything with break clean right before I put the assembly lube on. also, you may want to wash the crank with soap and water if it hasn't been done already.

Ill make sure to wash the machined parts with soap and water, and before assembly spray with brake cleaner and wipe off with a clean rag (or should i just spray clean??). Thanks for the tips guys!

are those stock valves in that head? never really noticed how far apart they are, i can see why some people have moved them closer together. wonder how much somethin like that would cost?

Yep--The stock nail head valves. My brother was talking about moving them closer, but I doubt that's going to happen since I'm going to be dropping the head and big valves off to the machinist tomorrow and I don't think he's the person to tackle that task. If you're bored, clean up the welds inside the header.

I didnt end up using that plate you sent me. It was the same size WxH as the one i got in the CC kit i also purchased... however the thickness of your plate was at least double the size if not more which made it very heavy. Otherwise they were the same beast. Same size hole and everything. I was afraid that using yours would cause more mistakes of the plate falling off the head (weight). It already did that at least 3 times on me when i was filling it up using the lighter and thinner plate... but im pretty sure that was all on me because i didnt use enough lube.. haha
