Best forged rods for a maximun power big turbo 3.5L

Post by akaxauto »

Looking for recommendations for the best forged rods for my 3.5L Destroker build. I'll be having pistons custom made so I can work with rods that are standard dimensions for a 4.0, but can work with anything longer as well. As of right now the new build is just a crank, block, and aluminum head so I am open to any suggestions.

Here's my XJ now, Turbo 4.0

Give Russ Pottenger a call. He can probably set you up with the right combination of pistons and rods.

I second that! I got some rods from Russ he has SCAT make for him. I'll let him tell you why they're so rad, but they're better than the off the shelf rods from SCAT

Cool Jeep! Love the front end conversion.

I can't answer your question about rods more than others have.

I would love to know more about your build though. Do you have a build thread? Working on mine currently. Especially interested in what ecu you're running and how you've packaged the whole works.

I am using a Megasquirt MS3x ECU, I have a detailed build thread on Cherokee Forum

Feel free to shoot me an email I'll be happy to send you information on my connecting rods.

Basically sat down with Scat and started with a clean sheet of paper.

Both ends of the rod' are fully profiled with the small end
bushed allowing for a full floating wrist pin. This allows for a pin upgrade to a .927 Chevy pin. If purchased with my Pistons there will be no additional charge.
A strengthening rib replaces the balance pad on the cap.
Besides reducing the unnecessary amount of weight this is a big help in clearancing of the factory main girdle in the later 4.0's stroker applications.
