Can someone here recommend a scan tool for OBD2/JTEC ?
I have a basic code reader but I`d like to see a tool that has more features. Seeing timing and fuel trims is really what I am looking for.
Have/Had an issue with my idle going up 200/300 rpm. While no code was stored it would have been nice to see what the trims were for each cylinder.
The WB didn't show any lean condition and typical "bench" testing didn't show any vacuum leaks. I've now taken the I/E off to replace the gasket. In doing so there hasn't been any hard evidence of leakage. Having had a scan tool I might have been able to better diagnose the issue based on trims.

Have you tried cleaning inside the throttle body and the IAC valve?

That was the first thing I did Dino.
Did the business card trick by slowly covering the port in the TB. Was surprised to see how much port could be covered till the idle backed down. Decided to replace the gasket as a baseline and work from there..
Only thing Ive found and I`m not sure it would be an issue with idle speed was the header collector to exhaust bolts were loose. The O2 and the WB are a few inches downstream from that joint. Again the WB read good but that is reading the combination of all 6 cylinders. Seeing the trims on each one separately would have been more helpful.
Hate to take the chance of burning down one cylinder.
Beyond this sudden idle increase the engine has been running great.

If that's the case the extra fuel would need more air at the cylinder.
Not saying that's wrong but I need to get my head around this. TPS voltage and IAC plunger depth may have be playing a part here.
I any case having the scan tool would show the trims, O2 voltages and the TPS voltage. All variables I can play with.
