Oil Reports indicate??

Post by purple_jeep »

Hi All,

So the last two oil reports have not been very good so I was hoping you guys could suggest things I can check?

Build thread is : viewtopic.php?f=8&t=4596

Oil report:
Oil Report 6.jpg
Oil pressure has also changed gradually:
Initally it was:
Idle 30psi
Running 45psi

Now it still idle's at 30psi running is closer to 40 but I noticed today that which holding at constant revs (1500ish) it will drift from 35ish to 40 and back.

Thoughts?

Cheers

Chris

Oil pressure is great. Can't read the numbers, but looks like more than normal aluminum and iron. Pistons are aluminum. Most other parts are iron.

+1 on the oil pressure. What oil are you running?

I've never seen any positive results using Amsoil.

You think the oil choice could be causing the abnormal wear?

I don't believe the Amsoil caused any undo wear?, but every engine and axle I've taken apart that used that crap was worn just as bad or even worse than if it had used regular old dinosaur oil.
I've been using Mobile1 in my engines and REDLINE in everything else that uses oil, plus I prefer oil that I don't have to mail order!, Amsoil is just about impossible to find out here!

Still no good, latest oil report shows no improvement, I will compression test and cylinder leak test this weekend.

Also will pull the valve cover, is it obvious if I have a collapsed lifter or a wiped cam lobe?
