The intake manifold will be the limiting factor as far as intake port breathing goes. The late model curved runner manifold has smaller runners aimed at improving midrange torque, so they don't breathe so well above 4500rpm.
For over 4500 RPMs would the earlier style intake work better?

I doubt it. It's probably better just to fabricate a custom manifold with shorter/wider runners, a bigger plenum, and a flange for a 68mm or 70mm TB.

I just might bite the bullet and buy this edelbrock head down the road if I give up on my own head work. I really like their new chamber design along with leaving room for additional port work. I'm hoping price is not more than 1200 otherwise might be out of my budget.. I can't wait for you guys interested to get your hands on this with your own opinions!

Here's a pic of my reshaped chamber design, still in progress...

I'm guessing another few months before this is on the market.

Where? The other day Rod and I searched everywhere to find this head for sale and nothing came up

Unless that's changed today, I'll search around again in a bit.

Exactly, or a CNC version with bigger valves.

That is also consistent with what Troy Hooker at Edelbrock told me after the SEMA show.

Has anyone worked out the CR for this new head on a stroker with 4.0 rods, KB 944 pistons at zero deck height?

Working with one of the 4500 spec drivers that was supposed to get the new head.

Last minute changes to the casting have delayed introduction till early next year. Select folks MAY have them in time for KOH but that is a show me not tell me proposition.

Same as a typical iron head.
