So im trying to figure out how to mount my CPS on the the damper. Im going to an FSJ 727 trans that has no mount in the bellhousing for the sensor. I took the flywheel from my AX-15 and measured up the width of the trigger slots, their angles and spacing and reduced them all so i could transfer them to the smaller diameter of the harmonic damper, in AutoCAD. I have one problem.... Does anyone know if the JTEC controller on OBD2 motors needs the trigger slots to be in "phase" or "timed" with a corresponding part of the crank? Ive pretty much convinced myself that its just looking for the triggers pattern. Reason being is that the six-bolt pattern on the back of the crank where the flywheel bolts is symmetrical and the flywheel could be bolted up at any "clocked" angle on the crank. IE there is nothing keeping you from bolting the crank and flywheel together at just one position. Id test this on my own but my motors in the shop and have nothing to test my recut dampner on.

But the flywheel and crankshaft bolt pattern indexes to align in only one position! The bolt pattern is not symmetrical.

X2--you can only bolt the flywheel on one way due to the spacing of the crank&flywheel holes(not symmetrical, even if your eyes think so).

I guess my eyeballs lied to me, I just assumed it was symmetrical 60* pattern! Has anyone here done this before? What other options do i have to mount a CPS?

It is not hard to locate and drill the 727 housing for the cps sensor and fab a small flat plate bracket to mount the sensor.

Hesco and Advance adapters both make kits to do this. about $250.00. You could probbly do it cheaper, but it would be a real pain. You will have to make a bracket to holds the crank sensor as well.

The cheapest route is to modify the trans bellhousing.

What year electronics are you going to be working with, Renix, OBDI or OBDII.

The Hesco stuff only works with 91 and up. No renix support.

Yeah, Im a real hard head and would rather do this myself and consider the kits as a last ditch option. Has anyone here done the bellhousing modification (ie. directions)?
