Stroker build using Silv-O-Lite Hypereutectic Pistons 3241HC-030

Post by Sharnick »

Hello,

Currently starting my "low budget" stroker build, and began with buying a used 4.0 motor as well as the 4.2 crank for $300 total. I also just recently received the Silv-O-Lite Hypereutectic Pistons 3241HC-030 in which I'm planning on using for my build so I'm going with .030 over instead of .060. I was wondering what connecting rods I should use with this, should i use the 4.0 rods from the donor motor, or buy 4.2 rods instead? I still have a alot of research to do so any tips or help anyone can offer me would be much appreciated, thanks!

You'd have to use the 4.2L rods with those pistons. You'll also need to have the block deck milled to zero deck clearance to minimize the quench height and reduce the risk of engine pinging.

All the usual parts that you'd need for a stock rebuild plus a performance cam, lifters, valve springs, pushrods, and oversized injectors.

Just remember as you start decking the block and how it affects the static compression ratio.

It's certainly desirable to have a tight quench but you're not going to obtain it with that small dish.

Noob here ((the more you learn the more questions you have). Tell me if I need to search the forum or not (don't wanna be a pain), but why are those pistons not ok to use with the 4.0 rods? Are they a larger piston?

They're too tall for the 4.0L rods and will be 0.2" above the deck at TDC.
